Run your eyes along the seams. Are the stitches evenly spaced? Do they run in straight lines? High-quality jackets have consistent, tight stitches without frays or loose threads. Uneven or skipped stitches are signs of rushed or careless production. A well-stitched seam is smooth, secure, and almost invisible.
Don’t Ignore the Inside
The outside might look fine, but flip the jacket inside out. Quality craftsmanship continues on the interior. The seams should be clean, with no raw edges exposed. Look for overlock or binding stitches that prevent fraying. If the inside looks sloppy, chances are the jacket won’t hold up over time.
Examine the Patch Stitching
